Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

SoundLift is a Chrome extension built and maintained by Nexasol ("we", "our", "the extension"). This policy explains how the extension handles your data.

2. What we collect

SoundLift does not collect, transmit to any server, share, or sell any of the following:

• Personally identifiable information (name, email, age, etc.)
• Browsing history or page content
• Authentication credentials
• Audio recordings or audio data
• Location data
• Analytics, telemetry, or usage statistics
• Crash reports or error logs

We do not use Google Analytics, Mixpanel, Sentry, Firebase, or any other third-party tracking, analytics, or error-reporting service.

3. What is stored locally on your device

SoundLift uses Chrome's built-in chrome.storage API to save your preferences locally on your device. This includes:

• Your preferred volume level for each website (per-site memory)
• Equalizer presets and custom EQ band settings
• Theme preference (light or dark mode)
• Keyboard shortcut configuration
• Toggle states for audio enhancements (Voice, Bass+, Default)

This data never leaves your device or your Chrome profile. If you have Chrome Sync enabled, your preferences may sync across your own devices via Google's encrypted sync service — but Nexasol never has access to this data. Uninstalling the extension removes all locally stored data.

4. How tab audio is handled

SoundLift uses Chrome's tabCapture API to access the audio stream of tabs you control, so it can apply volume boost and equalizer effects in real time using the Web Audio API. The captured audio:

• Is processed entirely on your device, in memory only
• Is routed back to the same tab's audio output (you hear the boosted audio)
• Is never recorded to disk
• Is never transmitted over the network
• Is never stored, saved, or shared with anyone

The audio stream exists only while you are actively using the extension on a tab and is discarded the moment the tab closes or you disable the extension.

5. Permissions we request and why

• activeTab — to identify the tab you are currently using when you open the extension popup, so volume settings can be applied to that specific tab.
• tabs — to detect which tabs are playing audio for the multi-tab mixer feature. We only read tab title, favicon URL, and ID — never page content.
• storage — to save your preferences locally on your device.
• tabCapture — to access tab audio so we can apply volume and equalizer processing locally.
• offscreen — to host the Web Audio API processing chain in a persistent context, since Manifest V3 service workers cannot maintain a long-lived AudioContext.

6. Third parties

SoundLift does not integrate with any third-party services. The extension makes no network requests of any kind. There are no external servers it talks to, no SDKs bundled in, no remote code loaded at runtime.

7. Children's privacy

SoundLift does not collect any data from anyone, including children under 13. The extension is safe to use by anyone of any age.

8. Changes to this policy

If this policy ever changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and post the new version at this same URL before the change takes effect. Material changes will be highlighted at the top of the page for at least 30 days.
